Undergraduate Research Assistant Application
This application is for serious undergraduates who want to work in research in exchange for PSCH 396 credit. Honors College students can also sign up for HON 222 or 322. (Students aren't allowed to work in the lab as volunteers, you must be signed up for credit.)
The preferred commitment is 3 credit hours of PSCH 396, meaning you will work 8 - 9 hours per week (120 hours in the semester). Rarely, she has allowed motivated and dedicated students to register for 2 credit hours. Please take the time to read through some of the expectations Dr. Bottoms has for her undergraduate research assistants:
-
Working in the lab means doing "A" work all the time. Every task you do is as important as a midterm or a final in any of your other classes.
-
It is expected that you will complete your lab hours during the semester for which you register for credit. If you fail to complete your lab hours over the course of the semester, you must make them up during the semester/summer session immediately following the semester for which you were registered.
-
Punctuality and reliability is essential.
-
There is a mandatory bi-weekly lab meeting that you will be expected to attend unless you have a class conflict. We do our best to accommodate everyone's schedule when selecting a time for lab meetings.
